Celebrating my 2024 Theme.
Wow, it's December
already. This is not something I say very often, but wow, this year went by quickly.
What was your theme this year? Mine was GROW, and grow, I did. When I create a yearly theme, I create reminders of that theme, such as a screensaver and wallpaper pictures, a ring, a crystal for my desk, or a keychain. I have the word “Grow” on clothing, notebooks, cups and pens. I ask myself all year, “Is what I am about to do, read, watch, eat,
drink, or surround myself with – going to help me to GROW? And if not, I ask, “Why am I doing it then?”
Mentally, it was a year of huge growth for me. Lots of family dynamics forced me to take ruthless care of myself so I could fully deal with it all. If you have stress around you, which most of us do, we are going to do a much greater job dealing with those stresses if we do the basics well. We tend to slip into self-sabotaging
behaviours to help soothe us during difficult times. When we do that, we are left with the aftermath of a difficult time and a depleted human who needs to recover from it all.
Physically, I continue to grow and get healthier. I recognized more than ever the need to move my body and have the sun in my eyes. I have spent the year deepening my health. (Stay tuned. This will be part of my exciting 2025 theme!). My daily walks in the
sun have been my therapy during a difficult year. I move daily while my tea water heats up. I do stretches, strengthening and yoga moves. We finished a six-month-long renovation on our home, and there is nothing like a reno to get you in shape!
Spiritually, the biggest part of my growing this year was to learn to surrender and trust. Wow, that is hard. Rather than control and worry, which is easy for me to do, I had to let go of
the things I could not control. Still hard. But I am crazy proud of how I am ending this year. Spiritually grown, spiritually intact.
How about you? How did you do with your theme? I am excited to build a new theme with you in 2025. Wishing you and your family a safe and healthy holiday season.
