I have discovered one of the secrets to happiness is to be thankful for the routines of life. To see all the aspects of our life through a 90% lens. Life is made up of those small things we all have to do. I have learned to be thankful even for the things that seem like the mundane 10%s.
Our children are 12 and 14 years old which basically means I am a
chauffeur. I love being their chauffeur and I tell them that all the time. I love driving to school, activities and their friends' houses. Driving my children around means I get to visit with them fully present. There is something special about that dark drive home from an activity. I have found those times to be a chance to really talk and connect.
There is nothing better than a van full of laughing 14 year old girls.
That is a 90% drive!
I know in a flash my children will be driving themselves, and I am really going to miss these times. And in another flash they will be grown and moved out. I want to look back on the day to day with a smile remembering how thankful I was for the time.
What do you need to be thankful for this month? What mundane or day to day activity do you need to see with a new 90% lens?
