Be Thankful by Darci Lang, Speaker and Author |
People think that happy people have no problems. They have problems just like unhappy people however, they work really hard at finding the things to be thankful for, the 90%s in a day, despite the 10%s.
Here is the list I go through every day. I am thankful for: - Being born in Canada. We won the lottery. We didn’t wake up in a refugee camp
today.
- My husband. After 20 years of marriage and many 90%s ( and a few 10%s), I am so thankful for a man who looks after himself both mentally and physically. There is not a day he does not do something to make himself a better man.
- My teenagers. I love waking them in the morning for school. The time is going by so quickly and I cherish every morning. I am so thankful I get to be their mom.
- My family and friends. I am so thankful for my circle of love
and support.
- My health. By the time my mom was my age, she had experienced a motorcycle accident that took her leg, cervical cancer and a mastectomy. The poster in her office read, if you think money is everything you’ve never been sick.
- My house. I live in a 40-year-old house with beautiful 40-year-old trees. I started my life with my Dad in a dirt basement house with so many mice we kept some as pets. I love my house and I think of so many women who do not
have one to call their own.
- My rescue cats, Lilly and Noah. They wake up every morning and greet me like they haven’t seen me for a year.
- Our food. We buy beautiful, fresh, healthy food — a luxury for many. A woman at the grocery store said to me, “Can you believe we get to buy this food?”
- My job. If you are employed be thankful. Even if your job is not perfect, there is someone who needs the job you have right now.
- You. For
subscribing to this newsletter.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I encourage you to stop working, stop studying, and stop surfing the net and type up your own thankful list.
Happy Thanksgiving my booster friend,
